2022 Budget Allocations and New Laws: Supporting Children and Youth in Foster Care

10/26/202210:00am PDT2 hours
Child welfare advocates will provide a summary of the major child welfare budget allocations and bills that were signed into law in 2022 in this informative webinar. Panelists will share information about how these funding resources and laws will impact recruitment and retention of foster caregivers, the services and supports available to families and youth in the child welfare system, and more.
From Continuum of Care Reform to AB 153 to CalAIM changes that went into effect in 2022, many of the recent policy changes impacting foster youth and juvenile justice youth are intended to reduce the numbers of young people who are institutionalized in facilities by providing more comprehensive supports. Practically, the success of these policies will rely on an expansion of easily accessible, widely available community-based therapeutic services. This training provided an overview of these wraparound services, how to access them, and what to do when youth, families, and advocates encounter barriers.
