Eric May

Senior Staff Attorney, Children's Court and Guardianship Program

Eric W. May (he/his) is the Senior Staff Attorney, Children’s Court and Guardianship Program at the Alliance, helping relative and non-relative caregivers formalize their relationship with the children and youth in their care. Eric educates caregivers about guardianship and caregiver options, prepares and files petitions in probate court, including temporary and permanent guardianship petitions, and advocates for caregivers at guardianship hearings.
Before joining the Alliance in 2025, Eric had 15 years of litigation experience in private practice, litigating employment and intellectual property disputes. Most recently, Eric served as a Senior Associate at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, and prior to that, he was an Associate at Kelley Drye & Warren LLP. He has managed cases through every phase of litigation, from pre-litigation strategy through trial.
Eric holds a B.A. in history and legal studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and a J.D. from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings). He lives with his family in the South Bay of Los Angeles.
