Alliance for Children's Rights Event
22nd Annual National Adoption Day
Join us in celebrating over 150 adoptions from foster care in Los Angeles!
Founded in 2000 by a coalition of national partners — the Alliance for Children’s Rights, Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, Congressional Coalition on Adoption, and Children’s Action Network — National Adoption Day is a collective national effort to raise awareness of the more than 122,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States and to celebrate all loving families that adopt.
Attorneys from the Alliance for Children’s Rights, along with judicial officers from the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, attorneys from Public Counsel and pro bono partners, as well as staff from the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services were proud to complete virtual adoption ceremonies for over 150 children in Los Angeles County this National Adoption Day.

8:15 AM — Virtual Press Event
9 AM — Remote Adoption Hearings

Our event also helps us kick off observances of the 22nd Annual National Adoption Day that are happening in hundreds of communities across the country, where many jurisdictions have scheduled similar virtual adoption hearings or other virtual events to show their support and raise public awareness about the urgent need for foster care adoption in the United States.
The first National Adoption Day was inspired by the innovative efforts of Michael Nash, a former presiding judge of Los Angeles County’s Juvenile Court. He opened the court on Saturdays, engaged the volunteer efforts of court personnel and finalized adoptions to reduce the backlog of one of the busiest courts in the nation. Policymakers, practitioners and advocates have collaborated to plan these annual events in 400 cities across the United States. To date, the dreams of more than 75,000 children in foster care have come true as part of National Adoption Day events.
Help us serve more children in Los Angeles.
Please consider supporting more events like this and help us continue to serve and empower vulnerable children and young adults so that they have access to the supports and services they need to thrive.
