Human Resources Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY

The Alliance for Children’s Rights is seeking a mission-driven, dedicated individual to join our Human Resources department as our Human Resources Coordinator under a full-time non-exempt position.

The Alliance for Children’s Rights is a nonprofit organization that provides free, holistic legal services and advocacy to youth and families impacted by child welfare and juvenile justice systems in Los Angeles County and works to enact policy changes statewide. Our lawyers, advocates and social workers, together with hundreds of pro bono attorneys and community volunteers, work to ensure young people in foster care and guardianships can overcome barriers to stability and success and access to the education, healthcare, and financial supports they need. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the recruitment process by advertising and overseeing job postings on internal and external job boards, screening and identifying potential candidates and performing reference checks once a final candidate has been selected.
  • Create and maintain employee personnel files and ensure employee data is current and up to date on all internal files and reports.
  • Compile and maintain staff list for use by HR and other departments.
  • Participate in and provide support during the employee onboarding and offboarding processes
  •  Support the annual performance evaluation process including disseminating draft evaluation forms, tracking completion, collecting, and filing finalized reviews and drafting applicable status change forms as needed.
  • Facilitate HR in-person and virtual events to support employee morale initiatives and build group cohesion.
  • Provide benefits support to employees including collecting paperwork for the following: enrolling new hires in benefits, terminating separating employee benefits, employee and dependent life changing events and assisting with the annual open enrollment process.
  • Coordinate logistics for trainings offered to Alliance staff and keep track of employee participation for compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with other administrative team members as it relates to employee engagement and support.
  • Assist with relevant internal and external HR related inquiries or requests.
  • Keep up to date with the latest HR trends and best practices.
  • Document HR processes and procedures to ensure consistent delivery of service.
  • All other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOUR IMPACT WILL BE

  • The Alliance is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator with outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. The Human Resources Coordinator is expected to be a conceptual thinker with fantastic organizational and time management skills. An ideal candidate must possess excellent administrative and IT skills with the ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent should display strong problem solving and decision-making skills with a strong ability to cultivate productive employee relationships. The Human Resources Coordinator will provide support to the Director of Human Resources by assisting with the entire employee life cycle including recruitment and retention, onboarding and offboarding, and coordinating benefits.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of professional experience.
  • Two years of previous experience in the field of Human Resources.
  • Exposure to Labor Law and employment equity regulations.
  • Effective HR administration and people management skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HR functions and best practices.
  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office Suite, and related business and communication tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work well with people of diverse backgrounds from all levels in the organization.
  • Fantastic organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain employee confidentiality.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS:

This position would work typically from our Los Angeles office. However, due to Covid-19, this position will temporarily work remotely from home. This position may be asked to return to work in the office at any time at the employer’s discretion. In person presence will be required once or twice a week as needed to facilitate departmental HR activities.

Salary Range

Target starting salary range is $25.64/hr up to $28.21/hr or an approximate annualized equivalent of $50,000 – $55,000 and is set commensurate with experience.
