Foster Youth Education Toolkit: Implementing the Promise of LCFF
Alliance Education Attorney Danielle Tenner will participate in a panel on the Foster Youth Education Toolkit. The Toolkit provides the building blocks upon which school districts can construct a comprehensive program to help districts address the unique needs of youth in foster care.
Keeping Foster Youth on Track for High School Graduation: An Overview of Laws
Danielle will also present on high school stability, including new laws and model policies designed to improve graduation rates and fulfill the promise of LCFF. Emphasis will be placed on partial credits, AB 167/216 graduation and school push-out.

Supporting Kin, Protecting Children: How to Maximize and Leverage Supports for Children in Kinship Settings
Alliance Police Director Angie Schwartz will participate in a panel on the funding streams available to children in foster care placements with relatives, explore kinship diversion, consider kinship foster home licensing standards and highlight best practices to increase supports for kinship families and strengthen our system as a whole.
The Evolution of Extended Foster Care in California: Challenges, Solutions & Successes
Angie will also co-lead a session with partners at Children’s Law Center exploring how California adjusted its approach and its policies to extended foster care (AB 12), providing for creative solutions to some of the more difficult situations, and how states can draw upon the lessons learned and solutions implemented in order to expand upon the benefits of this transformative federal law.

Alliance Staff Attorney Allison Newcombe together with our L.A. County CSEC partners, will present on their multidisciplinary approach to supporting victims and survivors of sex trafficking. Allison will discuss how the Alliance empowers youth and ensures they have access to the educational, medical and transitional support needed to build independent and healthy lives free from trafficking.
