The Los Angeles County Office of Child Protection (OCP) released its Foster Youth Benefit and Entitlement Charts and an accompanying Reference Guide to provide an overview of available resources and benefits to support foster and probation youth during their time in care.
The collection of resources provides program and eligibility details, phone/e-mail contacts, and helpful online links in the following categories:
- Basic living
- Social Security
- Extended foster care
- Housing
- Education
- Health
- Workforce development
- Expecting and parenting youth
The reference guide also includes information on benefits available to qualifying foster and probation youth after their time in care. The OCP encourages social workers, minors’ counsel, educators, adoptive families, relative and non-relative caregivers, and foster and probation youth to utilize the benefit charts to access critical resources.
