Caregiver Support Initiative
The Caregiver Support Initiative provides case management support to caregivers, ensuring they have the resources and services families require earlier in their journey, before they suffer the unintended consequences of a lack of guidance or information.
With these new resources, caregivers can make informed decisions and access critical help to meet immediate needs and prepare for the future. In addition to the Caregiver Support Initiative linking caregivers to public benefits and other supports, caregivers may request help for critical needs for the household and children.
Our social workers ensure that caregivers are successfully connected to benefits and resources for themselves and the children in their care.
Areas of support include, but are not limited to:
Public Benefits
CalFresh
CalWORKs
Medi-Cal
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS)
Childcare
Other Supports
Extracurricular Activities
Support Groups
Respite Care
Landlord-Tenant Issues
School discipline issues
Tutoring
As part of the Caregiver Support Initiative, the Alliance hosts a Caregiver Help Desk at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Court once a week (in-person and virtually), where caregivers are encouraged to speak with an advocate or attorney for assistance.
