Recorded webinar in a series on Life Course Health Development – Wednesday, February 24, 2010
WEBINAR SERIES - CHILD HEALTH EQUITY AND CHILD RIGHTS
The Physiology of Racial and Ethnic Disparities
A Life Course Perspective
Michael Lu, M.D., of the Department of OB-GYN at UCLA School of Medicine, will discuss the impact of maternal stress on fetal development and the subsequent health and well-being of children and the adults they will become. Over the past decade, the “science” behind the social epidemiology of racial, socioeconomic, cultural, gender-based and other sources of health disparities has become increasingly well defined. Dr. Lu will present his work and the work of others that has gone far in defining the physiology of racism, sexism and wealth disparities. Clyde Hertzman, Ph.D. and Neal Halfon, M.D. will present future webinars in the series. (See the connection instructions below and attached.)
